1100 Architect recently completed the Beard Center for Innovation at Germantown Academy, a prestigious private school in Pennsylvania. A model for 21st-Century learning environments, the new Beard Center for Innovation is comprised of two primary spaces: the Innovation Lab and the Makerspace. The Innovation Lab can be transformed with ease, due to a system of adjustable panels designed by 1100. The lab’s flexible nature allows students and teachers to use the space as a classroom, a digital presentation space, or for larger events. The Makerspace allows for learning through making and experimentation with new technologies, such as 3D Printing and Laser cutter (1100 Architect).
