Shoot Date:

One of the first projects from the Columbus Metropolitan Library’s Vision 2020, a district-wide building initiative intended to recreate all of the system’s branches in the context of the library of the future, the Whitehall Branch provides an expanded Homework Help Center, a larger children’s space, a drive-up window, a fireplace for the community, a recording studio for teens, five meeting rooms with moveable walls, quiet reading spaces and a design that will create heightened public awareness and improve access to the library. With an open interior layout that accommodates reconfigurations with ease and a transparency throughout the whole place which allows not only a comfortable environment but also an abundance of natural light into the space, this branch holds a strong presence in a challenged neighborhood.
