Marist College's new academic building on its East Campus, the Natural Sciences & Allied Health Building, carries forward the palette of rubblestone walls, stone trim, and red brick window surrounds established by our firm on Marist’s West Campus.

A three-story tower with an arched entry faces the pedestrian underpass designed by our office that runs below busy Route 9 to link Marist’s West and the East Campuses. The new building serves the graduate Physician Assistant program, the School of Science's undergraduate programs in Athletic Training and Medical Technology, and Biology Department laboratories, providing a gross anatomy laboratory, a skills laboratory, and five traditional exam rooms. A clinical simulation suite accommodates patients as well as high-tech mannequins for basic instruction in patient interaction; history-taking and physical exam skills; diagnosis and documentation; clinical skills; and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations. Advanced technology such as audiovisual data-capture for student-patient and faculty-patient evaluations supports state-of-the-art pedagogy. The building also accommodates classrooms, offices, and a conference room. A double-height student lounge commands views across Marist's campus and captures glimpses of the Hudson River. Discreetly housing the significant mechanical needs of a modern lab building under a hipped zinc roof, the building respects the scale of other campus buildings. (RAMSA)
