Fish Market Restaurant and Old Bengal Bar

Photographer: Paul Raeside

Location: London, UK

Shoot Date:
October 16, 2012
The Old Bengal Warehouse was built in 1771 as the first of the British East India Company’s storehouses on the Thames.
D&D London bought the Grade II-listed building and brought Conrans in to help with the renovation, so we designed four spaces that pay homage to the Warehouse’s exotic, mercantile past.
Fish Market is an unpretentious, high-quality fish restaurant featuring simple wooden furniture and bold swathes of colour. Copper piping, caged sea lamps and a sea green roof lend a nautical air, and Tansy Brown-Hovelt’s art installation, featuring brine-tarnished copper panels, allude to the creaking history of the 18th-century building.
