Officially completed in 2017, the renovation and expansion of the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium at Hollingsworth Field for famed Ole Miss is part of the schools mission to further carry on the legacy of Ole Miss athletics. Originally built in 1915, the stadium has gone through many renovations and expansions over the years with this most recent design by AECOM being the most significant to date. Returning the stadium to its original grass field, the first time since 2002, it is historically significant as it is only third time in the stadium’s 100+ year history that the playing field has been grass. The largest portion of this $43.5 million project is the “bowling in” of the north end zone providing the stadium to now have the capability to seat 64,038 fans with room to expand. Due to the proximity of the stadium to other facilities on campus, the expansion extends the stadium to 6.5 inches from the adjacent Starnes Athletic Training Center. With new concessions, dining and seating located in the new portion of the stadium, other hallmarks of this renovation include new lighting throughout, a new video board and upgraded sound systems throughout the stadium.
