Designed in two phases, the first phase of the KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) Central Ohio Charter School campus is for students in grades K-8. With a plan to serve over 2,000 children by 2020, KIPP Columbus first moved to this 124-acre campus in 2014. The site has been master planned for two additional buildings including KIPP Primary (phase two) and a stand-alone 9-12 high school. Formally a golf-course the site gives flexible and dynamic learning spaces not only inside, but outside as well. With inspirational words placed on the walls throughout the buildings, reading nooks, leather chairs, an outdoor amphitheater and playground, this dynamic school provides a comfortable learning environment for low-income students across Columbus. The overall goal of the project is to make the Columbus-based school a national leader in this school type, boasting the best facility, largest enrollment and graduating the highest, academically strong students who are prepared for college.
